Adult education, distinct from child education, is a practice in which adults engage in systematic and sustained self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values. It can mean any form of learning adults engage in beyond traditional schooling, encompassing basic literacy to personal fulfillment as a lifelong learner. Adult Education Quarterly (AEQ) is a quarterly scholarly refereed journal committed to advancing the understanding and practice of adult and continuing education. AEQ aims to stimulate a problem-oriented, critical approach to research and practice, with an increasing emphasis on interdisciplinary and international perspectives.

The mission of AEPP within the New York State Education Department is to promote, develop, and support adult education programs with the goal of providing adult students with successful pathways and transitions to post secondary education, apprenticeship training, and the workforce. Fifty-one students from throughout the school district were honored on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at a ceremony at Kennedy High School.
